The Gadhia Review and HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter have pushed gender diversity in the financial services industry back up the agenda.

The latest workshop in our diversity breakfast series will focus on how some of the principles outlined in Jayne-Anne Gadhia’s report can be applied to to other areas of diversity beyond gender.

Simon Fillery, head of inclusion at the Bank of England, will lead the discussion. The Bank has taken great strides in improving the diversity of its workforce and its approach to creating an inclusive working environment over the past few years.

The Bank topped New Financial’s ranking in our Diversity Disclosure report last year, and Simon has been driving even greater disclosure within the Bank’s annual reporting on both gender diversity data and BAME data this year. In an internal Bank survey, 73% of staff responded positively to the statement “The Bank takes diversity seriously”, and self-reporting on diversity tops 80%. The Bank sets diversity targets and reports against them, has executives accountable for diversity and improving diversity is part of executive remuneration – all areas that the financial services industry more widely struggle with and are having to take more seriously following the Gadhia Review and HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter.
