We interviewed Wendy for our groundbreaking 2017 research, Diversity from an Investor’s Perspective, and are very excited to be hosting her for an event series with New Financial members. Wendy is fiercely passionate about the importance of diversity to everyday business, economic development and wider society, and has a broad view of the diversity agenda from her role working with suppliers, including financial intermediaries, to New York City.

November 27, 8.15-9.45am: Diversity from an Investor’s Perspective, one year on, panel discussion including Q&A with Wendy Garcia. At this event we will be updating our 2017 research Diversity from an Investor’s Perspective, and hearing from Wendy on how the New York City pension funds bring diversity into how their money is managed. Hosted at New Financial, 23 Grafton Street, London W1S4EY

November 27, 3.30-5.00pm: D&I lunch with Wendy Garcia. This event is for heads of diversity and inclusion for peer discussion and to hear Wendy’s perspective of the D&I agenda at a US public sector body. Hosted at New Financial, 23 Grafton Street, London W1S4EY

 

Wendy Garcia is responsible for increasing contracting opportunities for Women- and Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs) and managing the Comptroller Office’s internal supplier diversity initiative, as well as other diversity related projects across all bureaus of the agency. Wendy also leads the Comptroller’s Advisory Council on Economic Growth through Diversity and Inclusion – a group comprised of national, local, corporate, and government experts seeking to increase supplier diversity in the public and private sectors. Previously, Wendy served as the Deputy Chief Diversity Officer at the Office of New York City Comptroller, Director of Community Outreach and Partnerships at the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), Deputy Director of the Manhattan Borough President’s Northern Manhattan Office, and Immigrant Research Analyst for the Rockefeller Foundation through Baruch College.

Wendy earned a Master’s degree in Urban Policy and Management from New School University with a concentration in Economic Development, and a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Delaware.
