In the wake of the financial crisis, it is vital that the banking and finance industry recovers the trust that it has lost and makes a more compelling case for the value of the important role it plays.

Lord Browne, the former chief executive of BP and board member of Goldman Sachs, will discuss some of the main themes explored in his new book ‘Connect: how companies succeed by engaging radically with society’, in which he argues: ‘The world requires much more from the private sector. The consequences of repeating the mistakes of the past are greater today than they have ever been. There is an enormous prize for companies which choose to meet these new demands with respect, authenticity and openness, making society’s needs part of their business model.’
