The pandemic has changed the nature and function of the workplace, employees attitudes and preferences to how they work. Financial services firms have a huge challenge ahead grappling with the future of work. Overhauling the Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm default with a more flexible model could contribute to overcoming key barriers to diversity through an increased internal and external talent pool.  However, firms must remain alert to the risks attached to the opportunity and consider disproportionate impacts on different groups across the workforce, particularly women.

At this virtual event, we will be hosting a panel discussion on how firms are approaching hybrid working and the Bank of England’s flexible working pilot.

We will be joined by panellists Jo Place, chief operating officer at the Bank of England, which is running a flexible working pilot, Emma Holden, global head of HR at Schroders, which launched a flexible working charter and Helen Page, chief brand officer at Virgin Money, which has conducted research on flexible working.

The event will feed into a New Financial diversity research paper on hybrid working in November.
