Saving capitalism from the capitalists: how to reform crony capitalism – dinner with Sir Paul Marshall, Marshall Wace
One of the many reasons for the ‘crisis in capitalism’ and the breakdown in trust between business, society and politicians is that in many aspects ‘capitalism’ had been distorted by special interests, regulatory capture, and anti-competitive and anti-social behaviour. In order for free market capitalism to flourish, it is vital that it goes back to its first principles.
The audience at this event will consist of senior executives from across the capital markets industry.
Sir Paul Marshall is chairman and chief investment officer of Marshall Wace LLP, one of Europe’s leading hedge fund groups that he founded with Ian Wace in 1997. He is also a founding trustee of ARK, the children’s charity, chairman of ARK Schools, and the founder of the Marshall Institute for Philanthropy and Social Entrepreneurship at the London School of Economics. He is also the founder of Prosperity UK, an initiative with Lord Hill of Oareford, the former European Commissioner, to convene both sides in the debate over Brexit to collaborate on the future of the UK. Sir Paul received a knighthood for services to education and philanthropy in 2016.
