The Financial Advice Market Review: a dinner with Charles Roxburgh, HM Treasury
Over the past few years, changes in regulation, market dynamics and behaviour mean that while individual investors with significant assets to invest face an embarrassment of riches when it comes to advice on how to invest their wealth, an ‘advice gap’ has opened up for savers without significant wealth to invest.
In August the Treasury and Financial Conduct Authority launched the Financial Advice Market Review to work out how to address this gap from a regulatory and market perspective.
The main focus of the review is:
– to examine the ‘advice gap’ for those people who want to work hard but do not have significant wealth
– to ensure the regulatory and legislative environment allows and encourages firms to innovate and grow their business models to include affordable and accessible financial advice
– to consider ways to encourage people to seek financial advice, addressing unnecessary barriers that currently deter them
This private dinner for senior executives from banks and asset managers will focus on the consultation being led by Charles Roxburgh, director general of financial services at HM Treasury.
