The future of Capital Markets Union with Thomas Wieser, chair of the High-Level Forum on CMU

CMU is one of our favourite topics at New Financial and is a core part of our work. The event comes a few weeks before the Commission is expected to publish its latest action plan for the next phase of CMU. The HLF published an excellent report in June with more than 30 recommendations in 17 ‘clusters’. You can read our summary of the report here and the full report here.

Thomas has a unique perspective on CMU and on the inner workings of the EU: in addition to chairing the HLF, he was previously President of the Euro Working Group and of the European Financial Committee of the European Union from 2009 to 2018.
