ESG 2.0: A reality check on ESG

During this workshop we will discuss our upcoming report on ‘A reality check on ESG’. The paper will provide an update on our 2023 benchmarking of ESG activity, explore the impact of the ‘anti-ESG’ backlash on the growth of both sustainable finance and the public commitment to ESG; and outline a path to a more ‘sustainable’ ESG framework.

The discussion will include:

• An initial conversation around the current trends in ESG finance;

• An investigation into the recent ‘exodus’ of firms from major ESG initiatives;

• and an exchange centred around the future of ESG.

We expect participants to be ESG specialists, policy specialists and policymakers.
